ATEX fans for the pharmaceutical business

Lesni, one of Denmarks internationally recognized companies in the field ofsupplying and erecting plants for air purification has a long standing and successful cooperation with Barker Jørgensen.

It was only obvious, Lesni requested Barker Jørgensen to deliver the fans for a project for an exacting international pharmaceutical company.

Customary to the trade, the end user has requested anonymity.

The fans and motors should adhere to the ATEX directive, suited for operation in category 2G, gas group IIA and temperature class T4. Due to limited space, the customer required the fan impeller to be overhung directly on the motor’s shaft. Furthermore, the sound requirement was so stringent, an acoustic enclose around the fan and motor was necessary.

Barker Jørgensen joined the Lesni design process at a fairly early point in time, with the outlines of the order as above, but still with details to be clarified. Thanks to an excellent interaction between the end customer, Lesni, and Barker Jørgensen, Barker Jørgensen could limit the possible alternative solutions and quickly assist Lesni with feasible technical solutions and necessary design info.

Barker Jørgensen developed the detailed fan design and the final risk analysis was completed. Next, the fans were produced and tested in accordance with as well Barker Jørgensens specifications as according to the ATEX-directive 94/9/EC. After that the technical file was delivered to the notified body for keeping for a ten year period of time.
